The four acre boatyard field is being developed as a wildflower meadow.
In July 2017 the field was sown with Yellow Rattle (Rhinanthus minor), an attractive yellow flower semi parasitic grassland annual.
‘Meadow Maker’ as it is often described, reduces the vigour of the grassland which in turn encourages the growth of other wildflower species. The species diversity is slowly increasing including Red Clover, Stitchwot, Ribwort Plantain and Ladys Bedstraw.
We will introduce more species once we have eradicated the current spread of Cow Parsley.
